You may need to go in to see the eye doctor more times than just your yearly visit to have your eyes examined. If you aren't sure if you need to go in, there are a few signs to watch out for. Read on for a few signs that you need to go in to see the eye doctor for an exam or a checkup.
1. You Have A Stye On Your Eye
If you have a stye on your eye, it's time to get in for an eye exam and checkup. A stye is usually caused by bacteria that has built up and collected, which results in a bacteria-filled pocket on the eye. A stye can feel painful and, if in the eye, like you have a grain of sand in your eye. You shouldn't wear eye makeup when you have a stye, and you should keep your hands off of your face and out of your eyes. You should also wear your eyeglasses rather than your contact lenses and get in to see the eye doctor for an exam and for medication as needed. Eye drops may be necessary in order to clear up the stye.
2. You Have Oozing Or Redness
If your eyes are oozing or are red, it may be because of an eye infection and should be looked at by your eye doctor. The discharge from your eye should be clear or milky, but never yellow or green in color. If you notice this coming out of your tear ducts, it may indicate an eye infection and you should go in for treatment. An eye infection, especially pink eye, can be contagious and you should keep your hands away from your eyes. You should also avoid contact with others, as it can easily spread to others as well.
3. You Have Blurred Vision
If you have blurred vision, or are experiencing difficulty focusing, it may be something medical, or it could be just an issue with your vision. Either way, it you aren't able to see properly or focus your vision, it's time to get in to see the eye doctor for help.
If you have any of these signs, you need to get in to see the eye doctor at a facility like Cohen's Fashion Optical for an eye exam and for the necessary treatment to ensure your eyes are as healthy as possible and to prevent further issues for your eyes or your vision.
